LOUISVILLE, Ky.– Drury split a doubleheader at Bellarmine on Saturday in a pair of games that were decided in the last at-bat and by a single run. The Panthers lost game one 9-8 but took the second game 3-2 and ended the day with a 29-14 overall record with a 10-8 mark in the Great Lakes Valley Conference. Bellarmine moved their record to 20-21 and 9-11 in the league.

Drury had a 6-0 lead in the top of the third inning of game one, but the Knights scored five runs in the bottom of the third, and they tied the game at 8-8 in the fifth on a two-run home run by Natalie Magnus. Bellarmine then got the game-winning run on a solo blast by Allison Woosley in the sixth.

The Panthers had a base runner in the top of the seventh when Courtney Kinionreached on a two-out walk, but the Knights closed out the game with a ground ball.

Serenity Healywent 2 for 3 for Drury with a home run (her third of the year), a double and three runs batted in. Kinzy Mathisalso had three RBI’s and went 2 for 4 at the plate.

Madison Resch(3-3) took the loss in relief for Drury while Natalie Magnus (2-1) worked three innings out of the bullpen for the win.

Drury won game two with a run in the top the seventh as Kinzy Mathis’ sacrifice fly scored Megan Tersteegand broke a 2-2 tie.

Panthers starter Kasey Cazares (10-3) took a no-hitter into the sixth inning and allowed just one hit as she picked up the win. Cazares went seven innings and struck out a season-high 10 batters while walking three. The only hit she allowed was a two-run homer by Hannah Webb in the bottom of the sixth that tied the game at 2-2.

Tersteeg started the seventh inning with a single, then stole second base, and set up the Panthers winning run. The win moved Drury’s record to 10-6 in games decided by a run and 8-3 contests determined in the last at-bat.

Drury returns to the road on Tuesday when they play Lincoln in Jefferson City, Mo. for a 1 pm doubleheader.
