SIOUX CITY, Iowa– Concordia will be the No. 1 seed when the 2019 Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Women’s Postseason Basketball Tournament, presented by Cypress Risk Management, begins on Wednesday, February 20. The top ranked Bulldogs went 19-3 in the GPAC and 27-3 for the season. Northwestern tied Concordia for the league title at 19-3 and went 25-3 overall. Concordia receives the top seed by way of GPAC tiebreakers.
As the No. 1 seed the Bulldogs have secured an automatic berth to the NAIA Women’s Division II National Tournament in Sioux City, Iowa, which runs March 6-12 at the Tyson Events Center. Northwestern is the two seed, Dakota Wesleyan the three seed, and Dordt is the four seed (by way of tiebreaker over Hastings). The top four seeds all host first round games.
Hastings is the five seed, Morningside sixth, Midland seventh, and Briar Cliff will be the eight seed.
The semifinals are on Saturday, Feb. 23, at the highest two remaining seeds. GPAC Championship Tuesday, presented by Cypress Risk Management, will be on Tuesday, Feb. 26. The GPAC Postseason Tournament Champion garners an automatic berth to the NAIA National Basketball Tournament (the runner-up gains the berth if the regular season champion (top seed Concordia) wins the postseason).
