PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The No. 8 Saints took on a Top-10 opponent on the road for the second time in five games and the result was the same both times.
Thomas More defeated No. 7 Shawnee State, 72-67, in overtime and remained undefeated through eight games this season.
The Saints (8-0) were led by sophomore Zoie Barth, who put in a game-high 22 points to go with six rebounds.
TMU shot only 3-for-25 from outside the arc (12 percent), but it was Barth who was responsible for the three makes, including a three-pointer in OT that ultimately gave the Saints the lead they would not relinquish.
Sophomore Emily Simon scored 12 for the Saints and fellow sophomore Summer Secrist had eight points and nine rebounds.
Anyia Pride had a double-double of 19 points and 13 boards in the loss for Shawnee State (9-2).
Thomas More concludes the 2020 portion of the schedule on Dec. 31, hosting Pikeville with a 1 p.m. tip time.
