{"id":1128,"date":"2020-11-06T21:37:27","date_gmt":"2020-11-07T02:37:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/kentuckysports.net\/?p=1128"},"modified":"2020-11-06T21:37:27","modified_gmt":"2020-11-07T02:37:27","slug":"strong-shooting-stifling-defense-combine-in-patriots-win-over-no-24-bulldogs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/kentuckysports.net\/?p=1128","title":{"rendered":"Strong shooting, stifling defense combine in Patriots&#8217; win over No. 24 Bulldogs"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"13c398acb195b4bd84e993cb56669758\" data-index=\"6\" style=\"float: none; margin:10px 0 10px 0; text-align:center;\">\n<script async src=\"\/\/pagead2.googlesyndication.com\/pagead\/js\/adsbygoogle.js\"><\/script>\r\n<!-- Above Post Ad 2 -->\r\n<ins class=\"adsbygoogle\"\r\n     style=\"display:inline-block;width:638px;height:70px\"\r\n     data-ad-client=\"ca-pub-4024319323781499\"\r\n     data-ad-slot=\"8631827568\"><\/ins>\r\n<script>\r\n(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});\r\n<\/script>\n<\/div>\n<p><em>Cumberlands Athletics<\/em><br \/>\n<em>Tommy Chasanoff, Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Information<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>CAMPBELLSVILLE \u2013 <\/strong>The 15<sup>th<\/sup>-ranked UC men&#8217;s basketball team shot 58.5% from the field, including 13-23 from three to post its first win over a ranked opponent this season.\u00a0 The Patriots defeated No. 24 Union, 97-64, in the opening game of the Lou Cunningham Classic Friday night.<\/p>\n<p><dfn>Tevin Olison<\/dfn> led the way with 23 points on 8-10 shooting from the field, while <dfn>Deng Mayot<\/dfn> tallied 16 points and three rebounds.\u00a0 <dfn>Josh Williams<\/dfn> chipped in 13 points and a team-high six rebounds, while <dfn>Jahi Hinson<\/dfn> went a perfect 4-4 from the field and dished out a game-high five assists.<\/p>\n<p>Olison opened the game pulling up from 40 feet away and draining a three.\u00a0 The two teams traded baskets over the next four minutes until <dfn>Lamar Harris<\/dfn> connected with Williams from long range to put UC in front 11-6.\u00a0\u00a0 On the ensuing possession, Harris stole the ball from Markelle Turner and dunked in on the other end to extend the lead to seven. Cumberlands went on a 12-6 run capped off by a three from Mayot to give UC a 26-12 advantage midway through the first half. \u00a0The two teams traded buckets until the Patriots got three&#8217;s from <dfn>Isaiah Payton<\/dfn> and <dfn>Austin Hall<\/dfn> to take 42-22 lead with 4:31 remaining.
